Process Mining vs Business Process Management

Process Mining came from the BPM industry a few years ago, combining the application of algorithms from Data Mining with the analysis of event log data found in most IT systems within a firm.

BPM stages were formerly managed by hand. Even the process analyses included interviews with employees and the creation of models utilising modelling tools.

This is where Process Mining shines, making the BPM lifecycle much more efficient and successful by relieving your team of repetitive tasks, enabling them to focus on higher-level modelling and re-engineering.

The essential difference between Process Mining and BPM is the end result. Process Mining offers the map of the real process, whereas the BPM cycle provides the map of the organization resulting (also known as to-be process) (the so called as-is process).
