Scoring System for Possible Automation Jobs

Hi All,

So were up and running with our RPA, and now we seem to have acquired a very long list of jobs that need automating!

Could anyone give me any feelers on how your rated / scored, your jobs that were in line for automation?

Thanks

Di

Hi Di,

At a very high level, I’d produce an excel spreadsheet listing all processes with the following metrics:

Process volumes
Number of FTEs
Process complexity
Percentage of windows automation
Percentage of web automation
Percentage of mainframe automation
Percentage of surface aitomation
Availability of documentstion
Availability of subject matter experts
Process exception rate

Each metric will need a value allocated against it but will result in an overall score which can be used to rank the list. Process complexity and percentage split will need to be advised by a developer.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Anthony

Hi Di

Not sure whether this would help, but we have used a framework where we created a prioritisation chart which checked to see if the process we were looking to automate was of high value, low complexity etc.

Although it's not related to automation, the link below may help in understanding this framework. You can easily adapt it for automation purposes.

http://www.product-arts.com/resourc...alue-vs-complexity-a-prioritization-framework

Once we understood the values and complexities for each process; we started to automate processes that provided us with the best benefit (but was of a low complexity build); eventually working towards the high value / high complexity as we grew in confidence.

This would go hand-in-hand with what @adebroise has mentioned above.
