Activate Application Not Always Needed

So from what I have always been taught and when I develop when doing surface automation you would always want to activate the application before interacting with it i.e. activate application and then do your global mouse click. Having said that for some reason I remember hearing something about Blue Prism adding something where it was not 100% necessary to do an activate application prior to doing something like a global mouse click? Like at some point Blue Prism built the activate application into some global code that got executed prior to doing global interactions?
